DWCHA Financing: Achieved through Private Funding and Some Federal Grants
Although the Health Authority is a public corporation, it does not receive direct public funding.
Financing comes through federal Medicaid matching funds that come through enrollment and education activities, entrepreneurial ventures, and grants from corporate and philanthropic organizations, such as the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation, the McGregor Fund, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the Flinn Foundation, The Jewish Fund, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Funds also are realized through major federal grants such as the Health Resources Services Administration support for our community-based teaching health center residency program, Authority Health GME.
